A very warm welcome to our first half term of the year from everyone in the Pre-Prep team.
Important information – If your child attends on Tuesday for PE, please make sure that he/she arrives dressed in PE kit with school clothes in a named PE bag. Many thanks.
Here are some of our planned activities for our topic: Our senses/families
Personal and Social Development
Become used to our rules and routines and think of ways that we can all get along together.
Circle time, games and indoor and outdoor role play to encourage children to make friends and to express feelings and ideas.
Communication, Language and Literacy
Increase vocabulary, respond to questions and instructions and join in discussions.
Letter sound of the week – wide range of phonic games and activities, based on synthetic phonics.
Wide range of early reading activities.
Fine motor/writing and letter formation activities.
Mathematical Development
Number – counting, recognition, sequencing.
Colour and shape – matching, recognition. Classify objects according to size, colour and shape.
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
French – fun games and songs to build vocabulary.
ICT – increase computer skills, using a range of programs. Use the interactive whiteboard regularly.
Recognising and naming parts of the body. Explore healthy eating and make a healthy snack.
Investigate five senses. Learn about families.
Explore changes to the environment in Autumn. Learn about Harvest.
Physical Development
Wide range of fine motor control activities – manipulating writing and other tools, scissors, materials.
Outdoor activities - circle games, balancing, climbing, pedalling, aiming and PE and dance sessions.
Creative Development
Kindergarten will create a self portrait using different media and colour mixing and Nursery will make a Friendship Tree display. Print using fruit and vegetables.
Play percussion instruments and respond to different musical styles.
