Autumn Term
Mrs Price welcomes you to the Year 2 page
Hello and welcome to our new Year 2 children. We hope you are looking forward, as much as we are, to an exciting and challenging year, having had an action-packed, fun-filled summer!
Our term will start with lots of work based around our friend Six Dinner Sid, a cat who will help us to learn how to eat healthy food, write instructions and stories, add and subtract and lots more besides.

In history, Year 2 will perform a musical about Florence Nightingale, dressing up as soldiers and nurses, Florence and her parents – a great way to learn about the life Florence led!
We will take part in the Harvest Festival, one of the festivals we learn about in our RE lessons and will enjoy new challenges in French, Music and ICT.

Mrs Mitchell will keep us fit through PE and swimming lessons and all the staff in Year 2 will make sure you follow our class motto:-
If I try I will succeed….
and then you will learn to be the best that you can be!
Year 2 will have lots of fun; so much so, they won’t even notice how hard they are working!
This half term we will be learning:
Mathematics – Addition and subtraction, place value, measuring length and measuring time, estimating and ordering numbers.
English – Stories and poems with familiar settings, instructions, a range of spelling strategies, grammar and comprehension skills.
PHSE - Rules
Science – Health and Growth
History – Famous People – Florence Nightingale
RE – Celebrations
DT – Winding Mechanisms
And finally of course, we will be looking to award as many handwriting pens as possible to those in Year 2 who write in beautiful, neat, joined handwriting.

Who will be the first?
Watch this space!
Have fun and work hard!
