Forest Prep Nursery

Our Nursery is a purpose-built setting within the beautiful grounds of Forest Preparatory School, welcoming children all year round (48 weeks of the year). It’s here that a child’s love for learning is sparked and they begin their journey as a Forester, building confidence, curiosity, and kindness.

The early years are the most important stage of a child’s development, a message championed by The Princess of Wales’ Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which highlights the lasting impact these formative years have on future learning and wellbeing. That’s why our Nursery offers an education focused environment, where children are taught by a qualified Nursery Teacher alongside specialist teachers in Art, Music, French, and Sport.

Learning continues beyond the classroom in our Outdoor Learning area, where children explore, discover, and even help care for our two pygmy goats.

With the same nurturing values and high expectations found throughout Forest Preparatory School, our Nursery provides the perfect foundation for a smooth and confident transition into Reception.

#theforestway Journey

We believe that children thrive when they are happy, challenged and inspired to be curious learners.

From the very beginning, children build strong foundations in reading, writing, comprehension and mathematics. These skills are carefully developed year after year through an engaging curriculum that prepares a child for the 11+ examination but most of all inspires a lifelong love of learning.

Alongside academic excellence, we are committed to developing the whole child. The children embrace the many opportunities to develop strong oracy skills and through our Character Education programme, pupils learn resilience, kindness, respect and responsibility.

Adding to the warmth of our school community are our much-loved school pets, Maggie and Ronnie, our school dogs, George and Mildred, our tortoises, and Rosie and Ruby, our pygmy goats. They all help make Forest Prep a place where children feel happy, safe and ready to learn every day.

At Forest Prep, we don’t simply prepare children for exams, we prepare them to flourish.
