As we are all aware, there is increasing competition for places at Trafford’s top grammar schools. With this in mind, we are, yet again, delighted with the achievements and results of our current Year 6 children.
Our own tracking and assessment systems provide a very useful insight into measuring children's potential. We have, over several years, been very impressed with the scores and potential shown by this Year 6 class: potential which has now been recognised by others, as places have been offered and accepted.
Sixty percent of our Year 6 passed State Grammar School Entrance Examinations: including Sale Grammar, Urmston and Stretford Grammar School, Loreto and St.Ambrose. This was alongside Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and Girls, which still remain the most popular destinations for our leavers.
In addition, this class has been tremendously successful in gaining passes to a multitude of Independent Grammar Schools. Children from Forest will be amongst the new Year 7s attending Manchester Grammar, Cheadle Grammar, Bolton Grammar and Cransley in September.
A further group of children will be moving on to the high achieving, local state high schools at Wellington Road, North Cestrian and Lymm. This will take the total of future schools this year to 12.
Many children gained passes to several destinations and scholarships have been awarded for impressive academic excellence and for artistic talent.
I would like to thank all the children, parents and staff for their considerable contributions to this process as, once again, we are hugely proud of all that has been achieved by Year 6.
