How Our School Pets Enrich Learning

How Our School Pets Enrich Learning

Here at Forest, we are continually looking for ways to enrich the children’s learning in an out-of-classroom context. Socially, school pets offer so much to children of all ages; responsibility, respect, companionship and confidence-building, to name a few. In addition, there are links to learning, notably in science and PSHE, such as life cycles, the animal kingdom, animal adaptations and health/ wellbeing.

In recent weeks, George and Mildred have been thoroughly enjoying the sunny weather. They have been out on the playground with the children at morning play and also at lunchtimes. From the tortoises to the turtles and chickens, the children love giving them the care and attention they need.
