Year 2 Are Year 3 Ready
Our Year 2 pupils have been working incredibly hard to become truly Year 3 ready, not only academically, but also by developing the important life skills needed for Upper School, including confidence, organisation and independence.
This term, the children have been following routines similar to those used in Year 3, helping them prepare for the exciting next step in their school journey. They are independently handing in homework at the start of each day, writing in their homework diaries daily and taking responsibility for packing their homework folders and book bags.
The children have also been growing in confidence through regular class presentations. They have spoken independently in front of their classmates about achievements outside of school and shared gardening projects they completed at home as part of National Gardening Week. Presenting to others helps children develop communication skills, self-confidence, speaking and listening abilities, resilience and pride in their achievements.
To support the transition further, Mrs Eley will be visiting the Year 2 classroom regularly throughout the final half term, giving both the children and Mrs Eley the opportunity to get to know one another.
We are so proud of how mature, confident and independent Year 2 are becoming as they prepare for this important next chapter!

What a fantastic #theforestway session today! 🌟
Thanks to their excellent reasoning skills, Mr Booth invited Year 5 to take over his Year 3 Reasoning lesson - and they absolutely rose to the challenge!
Year 5 showed incredible confidence, enthusiasm and leadership as they shared their learning, while Year 3 listened brilliantly and embraced every challenge with excitement.
A wonderful example of our Foresters inspiring pupils and learning together across year groups.
We are so proud of them all!
