Several members of the Forest staff and I have just returned from another memorable, week-long residential trip to France, with our Year 5 and 6 children. As well as being provided with opportunities to put their French language skills into practise throughout the trip (such as a visit to the local market), the children were able to experience educational visits to the WW1 battlefields and museums, a cow farm and a snail farm. Needless to say, a highlight for all children, was spending time with their friends on the beach!
Any school trip is an excellent learning experience for children: providing a great opportunity for pupils to face a range of real-life challenges that can contribute significantly to their personal development, as well as making a major contribution to their acquisition of knowledge and development of skills. These out-of-school learning experiences are ones they will remember long into the future.
Indeed as I write this, Mrs Eley has just informed me how, yesterday, the staff at Bolton Museum commented several times on the amazing knowledge and understanding of her Year 3 class as well as their incredible Egyptian costumes and impeccable behaviour.
We look forward to many more of these days and trips for all our children to enjoy!
