One of the most celebrated annual events in the Forest Calendar…in fact, in any school calendar: World Book Day. The special day gives us the opportunity to celebrate authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) reading. In fact, it's the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
This year, it was truly memorable to be able to allow all classes to celebrate World Book Day in school. Right from the moment the children walked (or ran) through the gate, there were instant conversations about which character from which book they had come dressed as. There was certainly a ‘buzz’ from start to finish, with one Nursery child so excited by the day and associated activities, he had an uncharacteristic day time nap.
Thank you to all the creative children (and parents) for your efforts in making World Book Day 2022 a truly memorable one.
