Year 6’s Aim High – Sitting the 11+

We’re very proud of our Year 6 pupils who sat the 11+ exams in the hope for a place at one of the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium. We commend the children on their positive and fuss-free attitude as they faced this challenge, with many relishing the opportunity.

The children were well prepared. Year 6 pupil’s aim high and are encouraged to take brave risks, knowing that mistakes are just part of the adventure on the road to success! Lessons are designed to be exciting, hands-on, and full of curiosity, sparking enthusiasm in a lively and inspiring learning space.

For Year 6 pupils who need a little extra boost, there’s a super-supportive programme to help them shine. This includes weekly practice in non-verbal and verbal reasoning (perfect for 11+ prep), regular in-class check-ins, timed quizzes, and fun exam skills workshops to build confidence and supercharge their abilities.

The children at Forest begin preparing for the 11+ in year 2, when they are introduced to verbal reasoning and non verbal reasoning. From Year 5 the children can attend a late class during term-time and a day class in the school holidays (Easter onwards). Last week marked the last late class for Year 6, so it was only right they got to celebrate with ‘posh’ biscuits and an exciting ‘jump in the air’ photo opportunity.

Well done Year 6 for all your hard work and great determination!
