Pastoral Success

This week I was approached by the Chair of the School Council, who asked if he could promote World Kindness Day in school. He presented his ideas to the school and asked each class if they could think about what being kind meant and to write a 'kindness' comment. He then used the comments to make a 'Kindness' display. It was lovely to read the children's thoughts and feelings-particularly towards their friends and classmates. This, we would like to feel, is typical of the children at the school and the pastoral care that we try to foster and create.

This could be through our Y6 and Reception 'Buddy' scheme or Y5 and Y1 as Reading Friends. In addition, most classes also have 'worry monsters' or the equivalent where children can confidentially write any concerns for teachers to see; similar to the secrets box outside of the Year 6 classroom.

Respect and positive behaviour is consistently discussed within PSHE lessons and assemblies whilst our Pastoral Lead, Mrs. Thomson, further promotes this in all aspects of school life.

We are very proud of the high levels of pastoral care at the school and even more so that it is driven by the children themselves.
