Year 4 pupils take part in independent research projects, known as 'Wider World'. These independent research projects, set twice each half-term, offer pupils the chance to explore fascinating topics linked to curriculum subjects such as History, Geography and RE.
Sometimes the class is given a specific theme to investigate, while other times they are encouraged to choose a topic of personal interest within a subject area. Pupils then present their findings in their Wider World exercise books — and the results never fail to impress!
These projects not only deepen their subject knowledge but also develop essential research skills. Pupils learn how to gather information from a range of sources, evaluate its relevance, and decide how best to present their findings clearly and creatively.
The work produced consistently exceeds expectations, showcasing the enthusiasm, curiosity, and growing independence of our Year 4 learners.
