Flourishing at Forest

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding half-term at Forest, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on all that makes our school such a special place to learn, grow and thrive.

One of the highlights this term has been the introduction of our new Flourish programme, which has seen pupils from across the school embracing a range of exciting, hands-on experiences. From making their own pizzas and visiting vegetable patches to learning about the journey from farm to fork, our Foresters have been developing a deeper understanding of food, sustainability and the world around them. These experiences bring learning to life, encouraging curiosity, independence and a genuine appreciation of the connections between what we learn in the classroom and the world beyond it.

At Forest, we believe that a child’s education should extend far beyond academic achievement alone. Providing opportunities for children to develop practical skills, explore new interests and learn through real-life experiences is a fundamental part of what we do. The Flourish programme embodies this philosophy beautifully, helping our pupils develop confidence, broaden their horizons and flourish in every sense of the word.

Of course, a strong all-round education goes hand in hand with academic excellence, and I am absolutely delighted to share some particularly pleasing news from our recent assessments.

Every single cohort, from Year 1 through to Year 6, achieved a combined class mean standardised score significantly above the national average (externally marked and graded by GL assessment), This is an outstanding achievement and a real testament to the dedication, expertise and talent of our teaching staff.

These results are something of which our whole school community can be incredibly proud. They demonstrate what can be achieved when talented teachers, enthusiastic learners and a nurturing environment come together. Academic success does not happen by accident; it is built on consistency, high expectations, encouragement and a genuine belief in every child’s potential.

Earlier this week, I wrote about the importance of school culture. Without positive culture, a school is nothing. It is the values we live by, the relationships we build and the way we make children and families feel that truly define a school.

I am immensely proud of the natural, loving and nurturing environment we have at Forest. It is a place where children feel safe, valued and supported; where they are encouraged to be curious, to take risks in their learning and to become the very best versions of themselves. Our ambition is not simply to educate children well but to ensure they are happy, confident and well-rounded individuals who leave us with a lifelong love of learning.

Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent me birthday wishes. They have been very much appreciated.

I hope all our families enjoy a restful and happy half-term break. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Forest.

Have a wonderful half-term!
