In Celebration Assembly last week, I gave out scores of well-deserved certificates to the children for their plethora of successes at the Bowdon Festival: including for musical performances, poetry recitals, monologues and duologues.
When you place this alongside our high standard choir performances (at locations such as the Manchester Cathedral and the Royal Northern) and our great LAMDA achievements, you realise that the Arts at Forest are thriving and really making a difference to our children’s overall learning experience and engagement.
This week, we have taken our Year 5 and Year 6 children to sing at the MEN Arena at the Young Voices concert, demonstrating just how much opportunities like this mean to the children.
To further recognise the importance of this side of the curriculum, we will soon be embarking on attempting to achieve the Gold Standard Arts Award for the school through the Arts Council of England. This will be a challenging journey, but one that we feel will bring great benefits to our school and children.
