This half term we have had a busy sporting calendar involving pupils across all year groups enjoying a wide range of sporting activities. Our new astro turf pitch has been greatly received and seen plenty of action all ready!
One of our school’s objectives for this school year was to increase competitive sport opportunities for Years 1–4 whilst maintaining our sport-for-all ethos, ensuring every child has the chance to take part and thrive. The sheer volume and variety of sporting opportunities this half term clearly demonstrates that we are delivering on this important priority.
Events
Our footballers have been in action regularly, with Boys’ Football fixtures across multiple year groups, including competitive matches and friendly fixtures against Hale Prep. The Girls’ Football Team also enjoyed great success at a recent league tournament, winning two matches and showing outstanding progress and excellent teamwork throughout.
Each year group, including our youngest Foresters in Nursery, have enjoyed Football enrichment sessions delivered by MK Coaching which is delivered by Altrincham FC players.
Netball has also been a major highlight, with development matches for Years 3–6 against Hale Prep and Well Green, alongside competitive events such as The Forest Cup against Forest Park, Brabyns and Edenhurst. Our teams also took part in the ISA Netball BEE Tournament at Hulme Hall, where they demonstrated fantastic teamwork, listened carefully to coaching advice, and showed great improvement across the morning. It was especially pleasing to see such strong examples of fair play and positive attitudes.
We have hosted a number of multisports competitions against Forest Park, Brabyns and Hale Prep, featuring football, hockey and dodgeball for year groups 1 – 4. Year 1 also participated in the Trafford Cricket Multiskills Festival which was another excellent opportunity for our youngest pupils to develop their skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Achievements
In swimming, our swimmers took first place in the Independent Schools Swimming Gala held at Castleton Baths. The swimmers demonstrated incredible determination, skill and teamwork.
In running, SB (Year 4) qualified for the ISA Schools Cross Country Championships in which he finished in an exceptional 9th place. A truly remarkable accomplishment.
Across all sports this half term, our pupils have represented the school with pride, enthusiasm and respect. Whether in competitive matches or friendly fixtures, it has been inspiring to see every child given the opportunity to participate, develop and enjoy sport.
