One of the highlights of this half term has undoubtedly been the way the children have approached their recent assessments. Across the school, pupils have demonstrated resilience, maturity and a positive attitude towards their learning. We are extremely proud of the progress they continue to make and it has been particularly pleasing to see children consolidating the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the year. Their confidence is growing daily and this strong foundation will support them well as we begin to look ahead to the transition into their next year groups in September.
It has also been an especially exciting and important time for our Year 6 pupils. Over the past few weeks, they have started preparing for the next stage of their educational journey, with many opportunities to meet representatives from their new secondary schools. We have welcomed visitors from local secondary schools into Forest, giving Year 6 children the chance to ask questions, learn more about what lies ahead and begin building confidence about this important transition. There is always a mixture of excitement and nerves at this stage of the year, but the children have approached everything with maturity and enthusiasm. We are immensely proud of the young people they are becoming and look forward to celebrating their final weeks at Forest in style.
The final half term promises to be a very special one, filled with memorable events and opportunities for the children to shine. Preparations are already well underway for our much-anticipated production of Pirates of the Curry Bean!, which will be showcased at The Altrincham Little Theatre in a few weeks time. The excitement around school is certainly building and it has been wonderful to hear the singing, see the rehearsals taking shape and watch the children embracing their roles with such energy and creativity. Productions such as these are always a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop confidence, teamwork and performance skills, and we know this year’s show will be another tremendous success. We are all very much looking forward to seeing all the Upper School children perform on stage.
I would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the children, parents and staff for their incredible support during our recent Funky Hair Fundraiser Day. The creativity, enthusiasm and community spirit shown throughout the day were absolutely fantastic to see, with some wonderfully colourful and imaginative hairstyles on display! Most importantly, the event raised an incredible £262, which has now helped take the total donation amount to well over £6000. This is a truly remarkable achievement and one that reflects the generosity and kindness of our entire school community. I know this support means a great deal to Mrs Budd and her family, and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed in any way.
As always, I am continually grateful for the support of our families and for the hard work and dedication of our staff team, who go above and beyond every day to provide the very best opportunities for our children. Forest continues to be a very special place because of the strong sense of community we share together.
We now look forward to the final half term of the academic year with great excitement. There is still so much to enjoy and celebrate in the weeks ahead, and I know the children will continue to make us proud through their achievements, attitudes and enthusiasm.
I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable half term break and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be a fantastic final few weeks of the school year.
