Celebrating a Historic Year at Forest!

As we reach the close of an extraordinary school year, it is a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate what has truly been a once-in-a-lifetime chapter in the story of Forest School. Our Centenary year has been nothing short of remarkable—a vibrant tapestry of tradition, community, learning, and joy.

From the very first day of term, it was clear that 2024–25 would be special. The Centenary Gala Concert at the Stoller Hall in Manchester set the tone with an unforgettable evening where our pupils took to the stage with such poise, passion, and talent that it moved many in the audience to tears. It was a night that will live long in the memory of everyone who attended and symbolised everything that is wonderful about our school.

This spirit continued throughout the year, from the beautifully crafted entries in our Centenary Poetry Competition to the ceremonial planting of the Forest School time capsule—a lasting legacy that will speak to future generations of the children who made this year so special. The warm welcome we extended to our returning alumni was another highlight. Their stories, memories, and laughter helped to bridge the past and the present, showing our pupils that they are part of something much larger—a proud tradition of excellence, friendship, and discovery.

What has truly shone through this year is the strength of our Forest culture. It is a way of life shaped by kindness, resilience, creativity, and curiosity. It’s a culture built over 100 years and nurtured every day by the people within it; pupils, staff, families, and the wider community.

Our academic achievements this year have been exceptional. Every class has performed significantly above the national average, reflecting the dedication of our teaching staff and the extraordinary efforts of our pupils. From the youngest learners taking their first steps into reading and writing, to our oldest pupils preparing to take their next steps into the wider world, we are incredibly proud of every one of them.

As we look ahead to our 101st year, we do so with renewed energy and optimism. Next year we will focus on building upon the academic successes of this year while continuing to celebrate the rich heritage that has brought us to this point. And in true Forest style, we’re also adding a bit of fun- our newest additions- pet goats, will be joining the school community next term! We can’t wait for the children to meet them and help care for them as part of our growing outdoor and wellbeing curriculum.

Finally, to our wonderful Class of 2025, your journey with Forest may be coming to an end, but you will always be part of this family. We wish you every success, happiness, and adventure in the years ahead. Go forward with confidence, carry the Forest values with you, and know that you will always have a home here.

Wishing all our Forest families a restful and enjoyable summer. Thank you for making our Centenary year so unforgettable.

With best wishes,
