As we come to the end of term, I am delighted to reflect on what has been an exceptional start to our 101st year at Forest. We have certainly begun this new century of the school’s history with great momentum, most notably through our incredible 11+ examination results. These achievements speak volumes about the hard work of our pupils and the dedication of our staff, and they set the tone for the exciting year ahead.
Our sporting provision continues to grow, with new and varied opportunities that have been eagerly embraced by the children. It has been wonderful to see them take on fresh challenges with such enthusiasm and team spirit. Equally pleasing has been the way our new Nursery cohort has settled so superbly into school life. Their confidence and curiosity brighten our school every day. And what superb role models they have in our Year 6 pupils, who embody the values and spirit of Forest in all they do.
A particular highlight this term was the much-anticipated return of the Speech Competition. It was a joy to witness such impressive public speaking and oracy from pupils across the school. Their composure, creativity, and confidence were truly inspiring.
As Christmas time arrived, we also received the welcome yet inevitably nerve-tingling inspection phone call on a Monday morning. Inspectors arrived shortly afterwards for a very intense three days. Three days in which no stone was left unturned. It was both a pleasure and a privilege to watch our wonderful Forest community shine so brightly. Pupils and staff alike showcased all the qualities that make our little Timperley oasis such a special place to learn and to work.
This past fortnight has also been filled with the magic of Christmas, bringing our whole community together in true Forest style. From the heart-warming Nativity performances to joyful carol singing, festive trips, and countless moments of togetherness, the children have reminded us all of the importance of joy, kindness, and shared celebration. These occasions, big and small, truly capture #theforestway and everything it stands for.
I am incredibly proud of our staff, who continue to demonstrate their professionalism, passion, and teamwork every single day. They are an extraordinary team. And as ever, our children remain at the heart of everything we do. It is a privilege to teach them and to spend time with them as they grow, learn, and flourish.
Looking ahead to the new year, we are excited to have our new astroturf installed and to continue expanding the opportunities available to our pupils. There is much to look forward to in 2026 and beyond.
May I wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and my warmest best wishes for the New Year. Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to another wonderful term together from January.
