School Lunches Revamped

Following the feedback from our parent survey regarding school lunches, we have made some changes. You said, we did!

This term we have seen our Foresters, both pupils and staff, enjoying the recently launched school menu. On a daily basis the children have a choice of a healthy hot meal, jacket potato with a filling, soup and a pudding. There is also a salad bar, selection of fresh fruit and yoghurts served daily.

Chef Simon and his catering assistants, Mrs Wild and Mrs Davies, are now part of the Forest team and, with Mr Booth’s support, they are aiming to find the perfect balance between making nutritional food and food that appeals to children.

Chef Simon said, “I now have greater autonomy over the food I can buy and the suppliers I can use. Food is locally sourced and the meat served is from a trusted butcher who has supplied quality meat to me for many years. I also have a bigger budget, so I can purchase higher quality produce, offer yoghurts daily and the occasional treats. It is lovely seeing everyone enjoying their school lunch, after all they need the fuel to keep their brains sharp!’

Bon appétit, Foresters!
