A New Forester: Mabel

Yesterday afternoon, Mr Booth gathered the whole school into the hall to make a very special announcement. As a way of showing his appreciation to all the pupils and staff for his thoroughly enjoyable first year as Headmaster, he presented them with a very special gift.

From September 2022, Forest Prep will have its very own school dog; Mabel. She will come to school each day and will be a special part of school life. At only 10 weeks old currently, Mabel- the miniature, wire-haired dachshund-  will be introduced to school life slowly over the coming months, in readiness for September.

Mabel will be trained as a support dog and will help the children to learn their everyday tasks, such as reading, maths and relationships and PSHE. She will be there as a good friend and listener for all the children, especially those who are particularly shy or may be feeling sad. Additionally, she will help our new Foresters to settle into Nursery and Early Years.

Based in Mr Booth’s office, she will have her special place, where children can make a special visit.

Welcome aboard Mabel, we look forward to welcoming you to The Forest Way of life!
