Kinaesthetic Learning in Year 2

Each new academic year, the leap from year-group-to-year-group can be quite overwhelming for some children. Getting accustomed to a new teacher, new way of doing things, new curriculum- which is why teachers try their utmost to make the transition as smooth as possible. Learning kinesthetically can be a means to do this.

Last week, Mrs Bradley was encouraging Year 2 to be more practical in their maths sessions, to enhance their learning of measurement. They considered the most sensible tool to measure different things with and applied their knowledge to solve measuring problems.

Applying maths in practical situations at school is vital, so that the children realise that it is needed in everyday life and is not just a subject taught at school.
