A Note from our PA Chairperson…

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Forest Preparatory School Parents Association (the PA), I would like to welcome you and your family to Forest.

The PA is run entirely by parents from the school and our aim is to complement the thriving school community by creating:

Events

  • Fun events for our children including Discos, Halloween parties, and Movie Nights;
  • Family events like our Christmas and Summer fairs, and;
  • Adult socials such as our “PA Quiz” and the annual May Ball, which is a formal fundraising dinner.

This year will be even more special as we will be celebrating the Schools Centenary so there will be lots of additions and fun surprises.

We use the proceeds from all of these events to fund some of ‘extras’ for our children, for example ice creams on school trips, educational theatre companies coming in to school and also for particular requests from the school, such as the garden music room, sport equipment and props for the school productions to name just a few.

SAVE THE DATE: following the enormous success of our May Ball this year, we are delighted to announce that our Centenary May Ball will take place on Saturday 10th May 2025 at Bowdon Rugby Club. Put it in your diaries now!

Initiatives to Support our Families and the Community

In addition to raising money for our school, we believe it is important to partner with charities in our community. We have created long lasting relationships with the charities that we have worked with over the years and we love to get the children and parents involved, be that through fundraising for our annual children’s “Colour Run” and or through donating our time.  We established a new partnership with Little Green Sock (https://littlegreensock.org/) in September 2023 and we are enjoying working with the team there to help local families to reduce the financial burden of clothing, by reusing and gifting items to help create a positive change in behaviour towards the circular economy.

We also run a “Nearly New Uniform” Service where we collect uniform that our children have outgrown and we sell it at pop up Uniform Sales throughout the year. This recycling helps the environment and the proceeds from the sale are invested by the PA back into the school.

Welcoming and Keeping In Touch

We kick off every year with our Coffee Morning held on the front lawn on the first day of term, it is a lovely way to kick off the new school year, to meet new faces and old friends… and we are usually blessed with good weather (fingers crossed!).

We have a PA Instagram page (forestprep_pa) where you should be able to find us and each class has a PA representative as detailed below:

Community Links

Our Aims:

  • To help our pupils prepare for the future as active citizens in the community
  • To encourage children to value the local and wider community
  • To encourage the children, parents, staff and other members of the community to work together
  • To develop links with organisations within the local community to enhance the experiences we can offer our pupils

At Forest Preparatory School we value the importance of developing strong links between the school and the local and wider community. Within PSHE and Citizenship education, through assemblies, concerts, class visits and special events, we encourage the children to appreciate the roles and responsibilities of active citizens.

To achieve this we enlist the support of the local and wider community in supporting the curriculum and wide variety of extra-curricular activities on offer at Forest. These include liaising with many outside agencies including Chester University, the Police Force, NHS, Jewish Association, Manchester City FC, The Toy Appeal (Knutsford), Manchester Airport and many more. Furthermore, Forest Preparatory School also prides itself on the charity fundraising work within the community that continues throughout the year.

Forest Preparatory School has close ties with Timperley Sports Club, where our weekly games sessions are held, as well as many of the school’s sporting tournaments. The school choir visits the Bridgewater Hall and Manchester Arena on a bi-annual basis and a Bellevue Music Festival is held every other spring at the Royal Northern College of Music. A highlight of the year is the Upper School Summer Show that takes place annually at The Little Theatre in Altrincham.
