VE Day Celebrations – 80th Anniversary

To raise awareness and help children understand the significance of VE Day, we marked the 80th anniversary of this historic occasion with a day of reflection and celebration.

Mrs Eley led an engaging and age-appropriate assembly, helping the children grasp the meaning and importance of Victory in Europe Day. At 12 noon, the entire school gathered around our very own air raid shelter to observe the national two-minute silence. The setting could not have been more fitting. The respect shown by all the children—even those as young as two—was truly remarkable.

Afterwards, it was time to celebrate! For lunch, Chef Simon and the team had prepared food that they would have eaten all those years ago at the street parties. The feast included  sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies, and a rich chocolate dessert that would’ve made 1945 proud.
