At Forest, we deem writing to be really important, especially creative writing. To help children develop a passion for writing, we host a monthly celebration assembly, where a child from each class is recognised and awarded a special certificate.
Our youngest writers, Reception, have been working really hard putting sentences together relating to their ‘Under the Sea’ topic. The children’s imaginations ran riot, writing about mermaids, fish and all sorts of sea characters.
Our eldest Foresters were challenged to bring humour into their writing. The piece of writing had to make people laugh - the well-deserved winner’s writing made both her peers and teachers giggle!
The best part of the celebration assembly was when each teacher read a passage from their winning piece. It was touching and inspiring and made all our children want to write something amazing too. So now, all of us Foresters are excited to grab our pens and start writing!
