We are delighted to share news of the continued success of one of our alumni, Cyrus (Class of 2023), who is very successful in the world of performing arts.
This autumn marks Cyrus’s second major professional musical run, in which he will be performing in the musical ‘13 going on 30’ at the Manchester Opera house. This follows his appearance last year in Cameron Mackintosh’s Oliver! at the Leeds Playhouse, where he performed as Charley Bates.
Not long after leaving Forest, Cyrus also made his West End singing debut at the Lyric Theatre in a special concert celebrating the work of Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz. Most recently, he has been working on an exciting new project with Warner Brothers, filming alongside Jenna Ortega for a feature film due for cinema release next spring.
Cyrus’s passion for performing was sparked at Forest, where he was an enthusiastic member of school choirs and a regular face in Christmas and Summer productions, festivals, and competitions—including the popular Forest Factor, where he proudly took second place representing his class.
Reflecting on his journey, Cyrus said:
“We were always encouraged to take part and try new things at Forest. I quickly discovered that I had a real spark for music and acting. As well as taking part in every music opportunity at Forest, I also pursued it outside of school. I won the Musical Theatre Shield as a leaver at Forest, and now, alongside my performing arts training, I am studying Film and TV production at Media City. I would encourage all Foresters to have a go at music and drama while at school and go as far as you can if it’s what you love.”
Cyrus would love to extend a warm invitation to current Foresters to book a ticket, and watch him perform at the Opera House. They may even get the opportunity to say ‘hi’ to Cyrus at the stage door afterwards!
