Investing in Our ICT to Boost Digital Literacy

We are all very excited about the school’s 24 brand new Chromebooks. They are very versatile pieces of equipment: they can be used as a laptop as well as a touch screen tablet with a pen when folded.

12 of the new Chromebooks will be used within ‘The Suite’ as part of the children’s weekly ICT lesson with our Specialist Computing Teacher, Mr Bullock. Each child from Year 1 to Year 6 will have their own email address and log-in for an online school ‘Google Drive’ account. Through this online account, the children will be able to create word documents and presentations as part of their lessons, which they can collaborate with peers and also have access to from home, when required, through internet-connected devices. All staff will be able to see their hard work and we hope to use the online accounts to further each child’s understanding of online safety as part of navigating the internet.

The other half of the new Chromebooks will be available to be booked by class teachers to further enhance their own lessons within the classroom context. These will be available to be used throughout the school.
