Building on the success of the Year 6 and Reception buddies, Year 5 and Year 1 have once again joined forces to create a ‘Reading Friend’ system. Both classes meet in the Year 1 classroom every Wednesday morning, where the younger children share their current reading book.
Our first session was very successful. Year 1 answered many challenging questions from Year 5, who had decoded the text well.
Mr Booth and Mrs Burns were impressed by the committed and calm nature of this gathering and look forward to this new ‘Reading Friends’ group developing well over the coming months.
