This term has seen an incredible revival of sport at Forest, so many of our usual spring sporting events- which had previously been postponed over the last two years- have come back with gusto and Forest pupils have thrived with each and every opportunity.
Not only have Foresters had their skills and techniques put to the test in their PE and Games lessons, but they have also competed within Trafford, ISA, Regional North West and even National fixtures and events. Putting their individual skills to the test, as well as overall team spirit and determination, to perform to their best together.
Cross country:
Forest took over 30 of our best cross country runners to compete at the North West Cross Country Regionals event in January, with each race contained at least 130 runners. Each Forester battled through the pack, as well as the wind, rain and mud to finish their races with.
Two of our Year 6 boys managed to battle through the tough conditions and finish inside the top 10 resulting in them qualifying to join the North West Cross Country Team in at the National event in Worksop. The two competed well in an impressive field and finished nationally in the top 10 and top 25. A very impressive BS and JH in Nationals.
Swimming:
Congratulations to our super Swimming team who at the Independent Schools Swimming Gala collectively finished in second position.
Many of our pupils broke their own individual records and the team received certificates galore for their finishing positions.
Football:
Our Year 5 and 6 girls and boys football teams have both experienced success in the Timperley and Altrincham Football league. The girls finished third in their league and the boys won their league and qualified for the Trafford Finals Night. Each playing a series of fixtures over this term. It has been great to witness not only their individual skills being put on show but also their incredible team spirit and togetherness.
Hockey:
Finally our Year 5 and 6 girls and boys as well as Year 5 and 6 girls only hockey teams, have been developing their confidence and skills through monthly Trafford competitions in what is quickly becoming a firm favorite sport for our Foresters and we look forward to our final set of fixtures next term.
