Clubs and Activities

Here at Forest our extensive range of clubs and activities are designed specifically to ensure the unique and natural talents of every child are recognised and encouraged. Click the buttons above to learn more about the clubs on offer.

Chess Club

Chess Club

Chess Club is run by former British Ladies Champion Sarah Hegarty.  All children will learn the basics of the game and we will then move on to more advanced strategies. The classes will include both taught material and lots of games so the children can practise.

Sarah currently coaches several members of the England junior squad and is keen to develop some champions from Forest!

Payment

Sarah Hegarty will email parents with her bank details once a place has been allocated. There is a maximum of 24 places allocated on a first come first served basis.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give a refund in the event of any dates clashing with school events, it is therefore the decision of parents as to whether the activity or lessons take precedence. All payments must be made before the club starts at the beginning of term.

Child Care Vouchers are NOT currently accepted for payment of this club.

Craft Club

Craft Club is a fun club to encourage children to explore their artistic and craft making skills. Children are free to choose their own projects, which they are supported to complete.

Craft activities help with fine motor and creativity skills. Most importantly, the club is full of fun and a great social environment to work in! Both boys and girls are welcome to come along.

There is no charge for this club.

Creative Writing Club

Creative Writing Club is designed for children to share their enjoyment of stories and to have the opportunity to extend and explore their creative writing ideas and skills.

There is no charge for this club.

Debating Club

Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 are encouraged to come along and join in with Debating Club. The children meet regularly to debate topics chosen by the children. Two teams go head-to-head to debate thoughtful ideas and arguments.

There is no charge for this club.

Early Years Yoga Club

Early Years Yoga Club is designed to offer lots of life long skills and benefits. Children will learn skills and techniques that aim to deliver a sense of happiness and general wellbeing whilst also developing core strength, coordination, stamina, fitness and balance. It will also be lots of fun!

Fit Club

Fit Club is structured to ensure that all children, regardless of their current levels of fitness, will get a really good workout.  The sessions focus on running, but there will be exercises too, so they will not have to run all the time!

The children will need their PE kit and trainers, and please ensure they have a waterproof jacket and a water bottle. 

The club will take place at John Leigh Park.

Payment

Football Club

There are two groups for Football Club, which is for boys and girls. Group 1 is for Years 1 and 2 and Group 2 is for Years 3 and 4. Players joining the club will develop their football skills and technique, with the focus on the fun and enjoyment of playing small-sided football. We welcome players of all abilities.

The course is run by experienced F.A. qualified coaches in a friendly, supervised environment. Each session includes a warm up, skills/technique work and small-sided games and competitions. The course takes place outside, so players need their Forest mid-layer top and base leggings/tracksuits and PE sweatshirts. Players also require training shoes (no boots) and a drink and/or snack

Payment should now be made by bank transfer only.  Please email office@soccerwise.co.uk for bank transfer details. All payments must be made before the club starts at the beginning of term.

Judo Club

Judo Club - The Olympic sport of Judo is coming to Forest School!

Judo Education will be running a 5-week Educational Judo course, which is taught by fully qualified coaches who have extensive experience in teaching children of all ages and abilities. An assembly introducing the club will take place in school after the February 2019 half term, following which details for registering to take part will be emailed to parents.

What Judo can do for your child:

Self defence
Increased confidence
Increased concentration
Self-discipline and respect
Increased health and fitness.

The course includes:

Coaching fees
Judo suit (children should bring their PE kit to wear underneath)
Certificate of achievement
Weekly ‘Spirit of Judo’ award
Free introductory session at your local Judo Club.

Payment is by cash or cheque, payable to Judo Education. All payments must be made before the club starts.

Kiddy Cook

Kiddy Cook has been offering an after school cooking club to the students of Forest School for almost 11 years. Each week we’ll help the children to create easy-to-make recipes and as some of these will need to be cooked at home we’ll give you a wipe down recipe card so you’ll know exactly what to do!

If you are interested in your child attending Kiddy Cook in the new year we are now able to take online bookings. Please be advised that classes will be limited to 16 children per session and places will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost of the club includes the cost of the ingredients, packaging and weekly wipe down recipe card.

LAMDA Lessons

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is one of the oldest drama schools in the United Kingdom. 

Since the 1880s LAMDA has offered speech examinations to the public. These examinations have been refined and developed and now not only can the children take exams in Poetry and Prose but also acting and Musical Theatre. In addition to being the UK’s largest statutory speech and drama awarding body, LAMDA examinations have a reputation for excellence across the globe.

The examinations help children of all ages and aspirations to: 

  • Unlock the imagination and creative-thinking
  • Develop communication skills
  • Build self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Receive critical appraisal and guidance for future development

Dawn Flint who conducts the lessons has a degree in Theatre and works freelance in Cheshire as a Musical Theatre and LAMDA Teacher.  These lessons offer your child the opportunity to learn and develop another valuable life skill. The sessions take place with small groups of up to six children.

Parents will be invoiced directly by Dawn Flint. Unfortunately, Child Care Vouchers may not be used for this club, as it takes place during the school day. All payments must be made before half term. (If your child took part in lessons during the autumn term, Ms Flint will deduct the missed lesson from the spring term fees on her invoice.)

Lego and Loom Club

Lego and Loom Club is a very popular break time activity, which has been running for a number of years. The club is open to pupils from Reception to Year 6. Everyone is encouraged to design and build any ideas that they wish with Lego or make Loom creations during this creative and fun activity.

There is no charge for this club.

Mindfulness and Yoga Club

We are delighted to announce that in the Spring Term children in Years 3-4 will have the opportunity to join MYC; an after-school Mindfulness and Yoga Club by Rattle and Roll.

Mindfulness and Yoga Club is designed to offer lots of life long skills and benefits. Children will learn skills and techniques that aim to deliver a sense of calm; happiness and general wellbeing whilst also developing core strength, coordination, stamina, fitness and balance.

Musical Drama Club

Dawn Flint (see LAMDA) will be teaching Musical Drama Club. Children who attend this club play games, learn dance routines and perform songs. They develop performance skills, improved speech and diction, gain more confidence and enhance their social and interaction skills.  Most importantly, they will have fun!  Places are strictly limited.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give a refund in the event of any dates clashing with school events. It is, therefore, the decision of parents as to whether the activity or lessons take precedence.

Percussion Club

Musical Percussion Club is a fun and lively club which involves children playing a range of percussion instruments, accompanied by Ms Wellings on a variety of musical instruments. The group has performed extremely successfully at music festivals and school performances, including the Altrincham Music Festival.

Participants will be invoiced directly for the cost of the club by Bellevue Schools.

Child care vouchers may NOT be used for this club as it takes place during the school day.

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club is taught by Senora Thomson in the Reception classroom. Senora Thomson has had over 20 years experience as a class teacher and has spent time living in Spain, teaching in Spanish schools.

Primary school children greatly benefit from being introduced to a second language at a young age, when they are most receptive to learning. Learning a language enriches and expands a child’s academic, cultural and social worlds.  Classes will be imaginative, fast paced and interactive, making language learning a lively, fun experience.  There will be storytelling, energetic action songs, focus words of the week and new topics every half term.

Participants will be invoiced directly for the cost of the club by Bellevue Schools.

Tennis Club

Oli Jones (Head Tennis Coach) and Kevin Bhunjun (Lead Tennis Coach), both qualified LTA tennis coaches from Brooklands Tennis Club, coach children keen to learn or improve their tennis skills.

Lessons are fun and varied, incorporating games and drills that are designed to encourage children to develop their tennis skills.
