Forest Preparatory School Parents Association (PA) is run entirely by parents and grandparents of the school. The aim of the PA is to provide ‘extras’ for the school that maybe budgeting doesn't account for. Examples of items provided by the PA include:
The PA also raises money for particular requests from the school/teachers such as the tortoise house for the school tortoises (George and Mildred), gardening items, the willow twigloo, play equipment, props and scenery for the school productions to name just a few.
In addition to raising money for ourselves, it is the aim of the PA to raise money and awareness of a different charity each year. The charities in the past have ranged from national cancer awareness to more local charities such as ‘Faye’s Wish’ and The Children’s Adventure Farm. The PA asks for suggestions for charities every year aiming to choose one that is somewhat personal to the school. In the past we have created long lasting relationships with the charities that we have donated to and very much like to get the children and parents involved in the fund raising by running specific events such as The Forest Fun Run, charity auction at the Summer Ball and various cake sales throughout the year.
As parents we appreciate how important the social aspect of the PA can be. Forest Preparatory School has a unique family feel and we aim to reflect this through the PA.Coffee mornings are held at the beginning of term for new parents to meet with other parents (we try and put new parents in touch with the class representative shortly before the term starts).
Social events are many and varied. Over the past few years these have included:
The PA is an integral part of the school’s life and supported by both staff and parents. It is very much a true reflection of the Forest Prep School way of life.
