It seems we're always on the go with Music at Forest, and this term is no different (it keeps us all out of trouble!). We have had huge success in two young music competitions.
Firstly, we had a finalist in the ISA Young Musician Competition, IF from year 6 was chosen as one of fiteen finalists, from over 200 entrants. Last week we travelled to Oxford University to perform in the Grand Final. IF played a piece on the Piano, an instrument that she has been learning since she was in year 1.
Secondly, two Foresters have done brilliantly in the Bellevue Young Musician competition, IF (year 6) and ZZ (year 3) have been selected as Grand Finalists. We wish them lots of luck! The Bellevue Young Musician Competition, celebrates the incredible music-making that happens within Bellevue schools.
Within our Music curriculum this term, the focus has been on preparation, preparation, and a little more preparation:
- Upper School - for the Hallé Orchestra trip (March)
- Main Choir and Chamber Choirs - for the Heaton Mersey Festival (March)
- Year 3 - 6 Greenhouse and Main Choir Boys - for the Hallé Youth 'Boys Sing!' Workshop (March)
- Seedlings Choir - for their inaugural performance (before Easter)
- Greenhouse Choir - for the Alderley Edge Festival (May)
We also have violin, trumpet, piano and singing pupils busy practising for their forthcoming examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
So much achieved and so much more still to come this year!
