Year 1 Embrace New ‘Africa’ Topic

Year 1 Embrace New ‘Africa’ Topic

This week, Year 1 have all worked hard embracing their new topic - ‘Africa’. They started the week by reading the book 'Masai and I' - a wonderful story about two girls and their differing cultures. Naturally, this led on to a class discussion on the East African Maasai way of life, where children were able to highlight similarities and differences when comparing to our Western way of life.

The children enjoyed making a ‘mud’ hut out of card and paper as well as exploring traditional style patterns and colours of African textiles. In addition, the children have made a whole class collage and African masks.
